★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nuanza Porcelain is a showroom, workshop and office in one place.
Located in a remote area of Ampel between Salatiga and Boyolali this place is far from the main road. So come here using Google Map by using personal vehicle is safer than to ride local bus. The road to this place is nice though would be a bit small for a large bus.
They welcome small group of around 5 to a large group of more or less 100 to visit and join their workshop.
An employee will welcome you and usually divide you into groups. Another employee (workshop worker who usually in charge of washing the finished product) will accompany you to tour their showroom, small shop and workshop. Unfortunately these workers are not well informed about their own company. They can only answer questions related to their job which sometimes is creating pottery at all. They won't be able able to answer other questions other than that. They will just show you around the workshop and mention 'this place is for painting, this is for baking' just like that. No further information at all not because it is company policy to not disclose their information but because they just don't know.
The workshop place during tour is a prohibited area for pictures but you may take pictures in the showroom or during your pottery making time.
They offer several types of pottery making but if you're lucky you can get a chance to try using the spinning table even if it's not part of your package.
They will have a teacher (senior pottery maker) to help you during your pottery making as well so make sure to ask more about pottery making during this time.
Your pottery will be mailed to you in around 2 weeks. Unfortunately if you create something small, the result will be so much smaller. If you make something too thin it will be so fragile and prone to break during mailing. So make something big and steady to avoid damage.
Contact them ahead of your visit and make sure to bring your own apron and face mask.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A place for arts! They make porcelain dinner plates, mugs, saucers, statue, literaly everything. And they make them by hand! This is not a mass production factory. This is a place where a piece is made with care and detail. That is why the price is not as cheap as the mass produced ones. The factory itself is not that big. It is above home industry, but it does not reach a medium size factory yet.
You might miss the factory on your ride since it is not really pop out in your sight. The workers are friendly, and the owner is a nice and inspirative person.
