Official #EdPins Submission for Jakarta Intercultural School #InnovationPin Grade 8 students at JIS travelled for one week on their Extended Study Program (ESP) to various places throughout Indonesia. On the Sulawesi trip, students were able to learn about ecotourism, biodiversity, endangered species and the illegal wildlife trade. They saw how animals are rehabilitated before being released to the wild, how turtle nests are cared for and some endangered species such as the black macaque, bear cuscus and tarsier in the wild! Students developed their empathy and communication skills by interviewing guides, hotel staff, volunteers and veterinarians to find out first hand about the challenges in their work. 21st century learning outside of the classroom!

My childhood school when my dad was a diplomat(Ambassador) and we lived in Jakarta, Indonesia in the 1970s, amazing childhood memories! It used to be called Joint Embassy School back then. Happy to see that it’s still around and has even gotten larger!??❀️
