★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have to say that this cathedral is MAGNIFICIENT.
There are many things that fascinated me. First, the location of this cathedral is right in front of the grand mosque of Istiqlal. It is how wonderful to see these two different worship place standing side by side.
Second, the architecture is very beautiful. It has nice detail that you can see from the outside. The design, ornaments, and the details inside the cathedral are so fascinating. It really looked like the cathedrals in Europe.
Once I step inside the cathedral, the atmosphere is so relaxing and quiet. You do not hear anything from the traffic outside. There is one strong scent that smells really good. It is the smells of the candle. I guess it is white candles. Also, the cathedral is quite big which can provide a lot of seats.
This cathedral is really a good place for praying, if you are a Catholic, they always conduct prayers on Christmas day or other monthly and weekly prayer.
I also recommend this place for those who are not going to pray here, like me. It is worth it to visit the biggest cathedral in Jakarta and admire the beauty and every aspect of this cathedral. This cathedral is open for public. So, anyone can visit Jakarta Cathedral to take photos or sit on the bench while admiring the art. They have a museum too if you want to explore more about this Cathedral.
This is a must-go place if you are travelling in Jakarta.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is just AWESOME... Structure-wise it is awe-inspiring for me... I love the interior, its intricacies.. I like how solemn it is inside and how tourists come here to pray. It is every bit as classy as it looks... Across it is the grand mosque but I would never recommend tourists to go there.. All you ever get are glares and unfriendliness especially if you are brown. If you would really like to to check it out, wear something that covers every part of you esp if you are a woman. What I had on was a sleeveless top and long pants and even though I only intented to be outside it, people were glaring daggers on me....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very well preserved cathedral as compared to the one in Europe’s the detail of the inside has shown how this is well maintained similarly to the Europe Catholic Churches. The churches is free entrance and right opposite of the biggest mosque in Asia. A great way to show different gait can co-exist within a close distance! Beautiful structure still preserved from outside and very surprise to see such structures remains standing in good condition in Indonesia being the Muslim dominance !

Long time since pandemic not visit this Cathedral , have growing memory in here with my kids and still on going....
Still not allowed to go inside the Church for public , only special events.
We can visit Gua Maria outside the Church with permission from security .
Have new underground tunnel that connect Istiqlal Mosque with Cathedral .
